GasanMamo Insurance Celebrates the Opening of St. Michael Hospice: A Milestone in Palliative Care in Malta

In 2021, GasanMamo Insurance proudly committed to supporting Hospice Malta with a significant donation over three years to help fund the construction of St. Michael Hospice. Today, we are delighted to celebrate the opening of this exceptional palliative care centre, which promises to bring immense value to the Maltese community.

A New Era for Palliative Care in Malta

St. Michael Hospice is the newly refurbished main premises for Hospice Malta, designed to enhance and expand its already outstanding palliative care services. Since its inception in 1989, Hospice Malta has been a cornerstone of compassionate care, providing free-of-charge palliative care services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families.

The state-of-the-art facility now includes:

• An In-Patient Palliative Care Unit, offering specialized medical support and comfort for patients in need.
• Expanded therapy services to ensure comprehensive care.
• Multiple Outpatient Clinics to support patients throughout their journey.
• An Educational Wing, which will create opportunities for training and collaboration with other hospices across Europe and beyond.

This project represents a significant milestone in healthcare in Malta, addressing a growing need for advanced and accessible palliative care.

Beyond financial contributions, GasanMamo has extended its support to Hospice Malta by providing advantageous insurance rates for their vehicle fleet. These vehicles are crucial for the organization’s daily operations, enabling their team to deliver essential care and services to patients across Malta.

St. Michael Hospice is not only a testament to the hard work of Hospice Malta but also a reflection of the incredible support from volunteers and donors. In 2023 alone, Hospice Malta provided vital care and a safe, supportive environment to approximately 1,300 families.

The new hospice will enable the organization to continue its mission of ensuring dignity, comfort, and quality of life for patients and their loved ones, all at no cost to the families.
