How do I establish the Sums to be insured under the Multi Dwelling Insurance Protect Policy?

Buildings

The Sum Insured should represent a calculation of the full rebuilding cost (not market value) which ignores wear, tear and depreciation but includes:

  • Each individual apartment
  • Common Areas
  • Fixtures and fittings
  • Passenger lifts

Breakdown of Machinery in Common Areas

The Sum Insured should represent the actual value of the machinery in the common areas including passenger lift, electric gate, etc

Is liability towards third parties and employees, such as maintenance and housekeeping employees, covered under the Multi Dwelling Protect Policy?

Yes it is. As residents or owners in a block you have certain responsibilities at law.

The Public Liability section will protect your liability at law in the event that a guest or visitor is injured on your premises. This section also covers your liability for loss or damage to your neighbouring premises as a result of an incident that is caused through negligence or omission on your part.

The Employers’ Liability section will protect your liability at law should you be found responsible for injury suffered by your employees through an accident in the course of their duty.
